The Structural Triorigin Model of a Diya (Lamp) in the Context of the Indian Five Elements
A traditional Diya beautifully illustrates the Triorigin order through the five elements of Indian philosophy:
- The body of the lamp, made of clay, represents Earth – Homo
- The oil, which sustains the flame, represents Water – Partial Neutro
- The air, essential for combustion, represents Air – Neuto
- The flame itself represents Fire – Hetero
The coexistence of these four Triorigin components gives the Diya its purpose: to dispel darkness and ignorance—symbolizing the Operating Neutro, or Existence Purpose.
